Preserving the Environment for Future Generations

In 2004 and 2005, Creston Development LLC secured a conservation easement with the Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina. This conservation land of hardwood forests, tributaries, native plants and abundant wildlife within Creston will be preserved in its natural splendor for future generations. The easement encompasses a portion of the Left Prong of the Catawba River and the surrounding mountain cove and uplands. A significant portion of Creston's hiking trail system is contained within this easement. The easement extends to Allison Ridge where it shares a common boundary with Pisgah National Forest.
Foothills Conservancy, our regional land trust, is responsible for monitoring the conservation easements in perpetuity. They are on the web at foothillsconservancy.org.
The protection offered by this conservation easement is invaluable to our mountain habitat and to future generations, ensuring that Creston's mountain views, forests, waterfalls, wildlife, and natural splendor are forever preserved.
