Creston Newsroom

Creston is the place where buyer's dreams are converging with land conservation values and splendid vistas of our North Carolina mountains. We have conveyed two conservation easements totaling 477 acres to the Foothills Land Conservancy which permanently protects forests and water sources. Instead of additional homesites these lands will forever remain undeveloped for habitat protection and for the enjoyment of Creston's property owners. This scenic forestland encompasses multiple water sources and waterfalls in the upper Catawba River Basin.

Our philosophy at Creston is quite simple. We believe in setting aside equal shares for people and for nature in a community that offers the benefits of well thought-out land use. We believe this philosophy of development is a sound business model that fairly balances competing interests while insuring that present and future generations can continue to enjoy the natural beauty that attracts people to our mountain region.

A one room cabin remained on the conservation land and we converted it into a hike-in shelter by removing walls to view the woods and Allison Falls. Now the shelter provides a gathering spot for hikers and shelter from the elements. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the short hike along mountain streams to our waterfalls.

Broadband internet/television is now reality for Creston owners. The Creston property owners, by an overwhelming majority, voted to move forward with the installation that will bring broadband access to our homesites. Many of our current owners will be able to live full time or spend more time at Creston earlier than expected with the ability to work remotely. Cable installation is now complete.

Home building is moving forward with 12 homes now completed. Creston's first year-round resident moved into her beautiful home this past spring, designed by Tom Lawton and built by Mike Eubanks. Barbara will tell you that her homebuilding experience was nothing short of positive. 5 new premium homesteads have now commenced construction with 5 more committed to begin by spring 2008.

Lynn Gertenbach, a Creston property owner, had an October weekend painting workshop at Creston, and in neighboring fields and meadows, as she is a plein air painter. Her artwork is absolutely beautiful. Visit her art at www.LynnGertenbach.com.

Our final phase of development is now available offering 25 new homesites for sale. Please call our office regarding our attractive developer incentives.
