Preserving the Environment for Future Generations
The value of Creston homesites is inextricably linked to the fate of the North Carolina mountain environment. For this reason Creston has partnered with the Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina to ensure the preservation of Creston's mountain views, hardwood forests, waterfalls, creeks, flora and fauna.
In 2004 and 2005, Creston Development LLC secured conservation easements with Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina. These conservation lands of hardwood forests, springs & creeks, native plants and abundant wildlife within Creston will be preserved for future generations. One easement encompasses a portion of the Left Prong of the Catawba River, mountain coves and uplands. The northern-most easement extends to Allison Ridge where it shares a common boundary with Pisgah National Forest and a wild access to Catawba Falls.
Foothills Conservancy, our regional land trust, is responsible for monitoring the conservation easements in perpetuity. They are on the web at foothillsconservancy.org.
